This was designed around the larger tubs of Perler Beads. We all have had to "treasure hunt" for colors as we are working, here is my method.

I always sort any black out, and I do this method for any other color that I happen to need on the current sprite-

1. Pour a 22,000 bead jug capful or whatever size jug you have(as it's a
yellow background and therefore easy to see shades)

2. Take what colors you want out, dump the rest into a separate bowl.

3.Do this until you have what you think is 1.5 times what you need (usually close to what you need).

4. If you have extra, place each individual color of beads in their own bag/tackle box space as they're already separated.

Hope this helps!

Call me strange, but I find sorting beads to be kind of enjoyable, especially when my life seems especially crazy. It's a Zen-like experience for me.

I'm sure it has something to do with the act of taking control of something and making it "right." This helps me feel less helpless about the things in my life over which I have little to no control. There's nothing like seeing labelled ziplock bags full of sorted beads to make you feel like you can resume sorting out the chaos that comes your way...

I find it pretty relaxing too. My husband thinks I'm crazy but it's nice to sit back sometimes and sort them out. My mom helps me sometimes and we just sit, talk and watch tv. Plus it's really nice to see the bucket of beads slowly disappear Laughing

you know i wouldnt have any problem sorting them if so many colors are sooooo damn close to each other. then i start getting so crazy about it i end up have 3-4 seperate piles for the same damn color. all cuz they are a hair different in color.

I used to seperate each and every frickin color individually. It took FOREVER!!! I now just seperate all the blues together and so on. When I need a specific color I just pluck out the ones I need. Plus it looks so purdy Razz

What I do is I seperate them as I go. like if I buy a big mix color bucket, when I make a bead sprite I just pluck them out of the bucket as I need them, and then do about 5 or so handfuls of sorting when I am done. This way it all gets sorted eventually and I don't waste my time sorting out beads that I am already using (seems like a waste to me) and then when I am in a hurry or don't feel like digging through the colors especially when I know I am low on a color, then I can just go to my assorted beads and use at will!

There is truth to the relaxing qualities of bead seperating, however, I was just trying to illustrate, for new people(or new buckets) that you can sort on the fly effectively, while making a sprite, and this is my method of "treasure hunting" beads needed, so thought I'd share it ^_^

I'm having a major OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) attack!!!

Please, separate is spelled with only 2 "E's", not three.

It's separate, NOT seperate!

Sorry for being such a spelling nazi, but seeing this word spelled incorrectly is like hearing someone run their fingernails down a chalkboard!!! Mad
