I hadn't ever done cross-stitch before, so I figured I would try it out... two and a half years later, I'm about this far:

Of course, the 2.5 years includes a 21-month hiatus. Still, I'm back on track and hope to finish before the end of 2008. It's mainly taking so long because I decided to do the black-on-black stitches -- see the Metroid square -- so it would keep its shape and have a more uniform pixel density.

For anyone that has done cross-stitch, it's on 18-count Aida, which I've heard is pretty small. I don't have anything in there for scale, but it's just a little over 10" wide, or, I guess 19-stitches-to-the-inch.
