This is a hobby that I have just started getting into (I think it was this past Tuesday that my bead order came in [clearly I've spent many many hours already]). I was introduced to the idea of making video game sprites mostly by one of the members on this site posting his projects on another forum I visit. The first sprite I did was a modified version of the Rad Racer 328:
The pictured sprite was pulled by someone else beforehand to help me get started and is shown to compare the changes made. There is a US quarter beneath the car (the car is 3 feet long).
I have a lot of progress shots on the car (if anyone is interesting, I could post some). I also have progress shots of the following if anyone is interested..
This is a work in progress and is backwards as it has yet to be ironed (it is currently at 2 of what I plan to be 6 frames of a custom comic strip featuring at least Lolo, Lala, and Mario). Just the two frames thus far are 5201 beads.
This last one is Ranay from the Famicom game Holy Diver (you play as Ronnie James Dio for those unfamiliar [it is not a hack]).

I decided to go ahead and iron two frames at a time (and expect that I may be doing 8 frames now...). I figured it would be way too much of a pain to do them all at once and I'd have to get more boards. I made a couple changes since the last posted photo with the fire and sore bump (looked a bit too phallic before--now he reminds me of Bald Bull )

Not a game sprite, but I began a bead project of Dave Mustaine. He is my favorite artist, and for those that don't know him, he is the singer, rhythm guitar player, and song writer for the band Megadeth.
This is the photo that it will eventually recreate:
Thus far I only have one board done (I started in the middle so that I could get an idea of how this will look--it looks great from a distance [this shot is taken at an angle on a table, so it may look off from the photo]).

My bead order came in. Here is the un-ironed, backwards 3rd frame... I may wait until frame 4 is done before ironing to the rest of the comic strip.

Lala makes her first appearance, and is taking out some of her frustration on Goombas. The first two Lala sprites are ghost images to show where she had already been (they glow in the dark too ). Technically I've made Lala based on Lolo's "Lolo 2" sprite, but added the tip of the bow and swapped colors, as well as changed the shape slightly and altered the eyes to look angry (Lala's [and Lolo's] playable sprite in Lolo 3 looks a little different [the bow is more visible when she is walking the other direction, so there may be more of it in the next frame]). Oh, and the Goomba's eyes have been altered as I didn't think the typical angry look was very suiting for a Goomba that has been knocked into the air.

I added some more to the bottom portion of the face. I think that is the lowest I will be going on this now. I may add some to the top, but I'm not certain. Though I will be adding enough to the sides to make it at least square in the end. I'm thinking I may have issues with some of the hair due to my available colors, but I'll see what I can do (this is why I may make it smaller than initially intended). Either way, it isn't done yet.

Couple small updates... I may have a chance to do some more later tonight.
4 more rows were added to the top of the Mustaine (I may go longer than a square for the horizontal before I call it done [a square would be 16 more lines wider than it is now]).
And this is all I've done thus far for the next Mario/Lolo frame...I've decided Bowser will make an appearance in this frame as a team with Lala.

Yep, Mario is pretty much f*&^ed here... and Lolo is dead, but you can see help has arrived. Let me know what you think. A couple other different game cameos may appear in the final frame as well (2 more frames to go I think).

Here is frame 6--it is mostly meant as a link between 7 and the rest of the comic, so it isn't much, and it has some unnecessary violence towards Mario, but I guess that is what I get for listening to Bonded By Blood while doing the last frame (Mario wasn't even planned to be in frame 6 ). But Lala conquers Mario, the white mage revives Lolo, and the text sets up frame 7... Toad may seem concerned, but he really only wanted to inform Mario that the princess was in another castle...
[it was quite frustrating trying to figure out how to do a lower case "e" at the size I wanted]

Added another piece to the Mustaine... It has become quite difficult to attach these pieces at these lengths.
And a shot standing up on a stool so I could take a less distorted (more straight on) shot of it:

I believe this may be as far as I will be going with this. I may frame it with a signed Dave photo I got with the fan club. Or I could be really ridiculous and dress the head in a shirt and jeans Dave actually wore and signed (I won't).
