Hi I'm Tim, and came across here through StumbleUpon. Originally from Wolverhampton but now living in Swansea for uni, studying History and English.

Really liking all of the spritework here, so nice to see people keeping the older games alive, anyway possible Smile

I myself still have my old SNES hooked up to my tv back in wolves, 15 years old and still going strong Very Happy

I've been looking at Bead Merrily for beads and boards, but I'm still a bit unsure wether to get single colours, or just try experimenting with a box of multiple colours? I'm thinking of doing Mario characters first, but want to go on to do aircraft (side and top views mainly) and aircraft recognition charts

Also, is a basic travel iron good enough for this, or would I need something better?

Cheers for any help Smile

Any iron should do, so long as it can generate enough heat to fuse the beads - which isn't a lot of heat. The main concern for this craft is even heating and a flat surface, so a larger iron is preferable, but it is entirely doable with a travel iron.

As far as single colors, eBay sellers are the best. Most of us on the forum will probably recommend Callahan13 to get your bead supplies, but there are a good number of them on here. The advantage with Callahan13 is she's here on the forum, so you can order directly from her. Also, she'll ship to just about anywhere for a good price.

welcome to the forum.
i second the doc with useing callehan for ordering beads but if your just starting you might want to get a mix tub first this can be and addictive hobby, but not everyone has the dedication to do it for long.

I agree with Malice. Buy a mix tub to start and do a couple small ones before investing alot of money. It is really addicting so be careful Razz

You will never ever have enough black.
Get a mix tub of say, 11,000 then 1200 black to start.

Welcome to the forums!

Cheers for the tips and the welcome guys, a 10,000 mix box is on its way (with an extra 1000 mixed bag that came free) a 1000 bag of black, and a large pegboard.

Also just got a fullsized iron from Tesco (hurrah for the value range!)
