Well, I found out about this hobby last week. My friend (we'll call her Red) did this mosaic at her work of Galaga, using wooden cubes spray-painted and arranged as the pixel-art on the wall of her office, and when she showed me pics of it, I was impressed, and started looking at pixel-art stuff on the internet. Found an article about Bead Sprites, and eventually this forum.

Red and I each went out to craft stores in our respective towns and got some beads and did some opener sprites. I'm determined not to post pics of my Everyone-Starts-With-These Megamans and Marios until I have something pretty neat to post with them as well. I've got one planned and started, but I'm waiting on an order of beads, as I ran out of black almost instantaneously. Should be here next week, and I'll have a nice, big (albeit simplistic) sprite to open with (in addition to the Megamans and Marios).

Figured I'd say hi in the meantime at least and say that I've been extremely inspired by the amazing work I've seen on this forum so far. Looking forward to my order arriving soon so I can get to work and get to posting my meager beginnings.

Okay, so my beads should arrive today. After I finish my current project, I have another one I'm thinking about doing, but it's from a somewhat obscure game, and I can't find the sprites readily available on the internet.

So I'm thinking about getting an emulator and making screenshots and working off those. Problem is, I have no experience with emulators or roms. Does anyone have a good site for a good NES emulator and roms to go with it?

I can only hope they have this particular game available, because while I spent hours and hours on this game when I was young, no one I know has ever heard of it when I mention it. Don't wanna spoil the surprise, (and possibly the guessing game) so I won't name the game. Just looking for a general emulator and roms.

Do you have a mac? If you do, I can help you out with the emulators- I have one for Gameboy, NES, and SNES. I have LOTS of roms too.

Nah, I'm use PC - I'll have a look around the internet as soon as I finish my current project. My beads came, but I'm 2 boards short, so I'll be picking those up tomorrow from Michaels.

And then I have to get my courage up to iron this beast Smile
