i know there the same thing, but i now think their litterally THE SAME THING. only Europe have a different name, like how UK have walkers but the rest of the world call them Layers or something. i watched this ad http://www.theinternetkit.ik.com/pub/customersites/interkit/oys-040719212815.nsf/0/0345989e0eac72ef80256f2b0053a443/$FILE/hama.wmv and at the very end, they say "Hama... the Perler toys" or something. so i ask you guys, are they litterally the same company but with a different label in different contrys, or am i wrong and they are 2 completely different companys. i mean she could be saying "Hama, the pearl of toys"

"Perler" is a European word (forget which country) which translates to, "Bead." So really when we in the US say, "Perler beads," we're really saying, "Bead beads." Smile

The ad probably means "The bead toy" in another language, so they're still different companies. Maybe one of our European members can point out the country of origin for this word?

If they were from the same company, wouldn't they be the same size/have the same colors available, regardless of where they're distributed? Plus, Hama makes Mini and Maxi sizes; Perler doesn't.

I dunno, I'm glad they're different, even if it is friggin' hard to get ahold of some of the Hama stuff here in the US.

Yep, in Norway, we call all the hama beads for perler. And perler-beads for Perler. Perler = beads

If that's true, what's this I hear about Hama beads being slightly different dimensions?

Wow... I never knew they were pronounced Ham-a... I always said Ha-ma...

and on the back of my hama glow-in-the-dark red it mentions that hama beads are the "original" bead... I'm assuming implying to the original fuse bead, bot real bead...

but that's probably because America steals everything from Europe and Asia... we're a nation of copycats...
