Hello all!

So it was Anime Central 2008 and my boyfriend and I were perusing artist alley. We came across a table covered in these plastic video game thingies.

They were cool, nifty, magnetic, and they were beads????

We had never heard of such a thing. I have never been a crafty person. I go to places like Michael's and Joann's for art supplies, but I usually go straight to that aisle and never give much else a second look.

I was curious. How were those thingies made? Could we do it? This feeling lasted for a while, but life intervened and we soon forgot about the cool little plastic things we had seen.

A year went by and Acen 09 came around and yet again we came across the bead sprites for sale in the artist alley. Actually, I think there were even more people selling them this time around. I saw a girl at the table assembling a sprite, and I asked her how she fused them together and she showed me her iron.

After the con I asked my boyfriend if he really wanted to try this out. He has a tendency to want to do things, but when the effort to do it becomes apparent, he gets bored and gives up. He wanted to try so while he was snoring on the couch beside me, I did some sleuthing online. The next day we went to the craft store and got some supplies.

So here I am, time will tell if this becomes an actual hobby for me or him. I like what I have made so far and hope to improve. Still getting the hang of ironing the beads.

I am currently waiting for an order of beads from Perler. I realized quickly that you need a lot of certain colors. They are taking their sweet time shipping the stuff...
