I'm so pissed because I just wrote a ginormous message and when I went to preview it, it somehow disappeared. Evil or Very Mad So here I go again:

I telephoned the Perler folks this a.m. regarding Dark Grey, "Weird Purple," "Mystery Pink," "Pain in My Ass to Find Green," and Transparent Turquoise because I got fed up with their exceptionally inadequate email replies to my inquiries RE the above.

1. RE Dark Grey, Perler can take up to 6 months after a new color is made available to distributors before they list it on their consumer website. (Why?)

2. a. RE the other colors I listed above that I've only been able to get in mixes and their tray set, I was told that in order for it to be worth Perler's while to make these colors available for purchase individually, "hundreds of thousands of them would need to be purchased." (Wouldn't the former need to occur before the latter?)

2. b. The Perler person I spoke with could not or would not tell me whether these colors were/will be discontinued. Mad

I told her that there are now entire communities of [adult] bead spriters and pixel artists whose medium of choice is Perler (and Hama) beads, and that it would definitely be worth Perler's while to cater to our requests. I even gave her my name and telephone number and asked her to forward my concerns/suggestions to the powers that be, but I have my doubts that this will occur.

I think it would be a good idea if everyone emailed consumer.service@perlerbeads.com AND telephoned them at 1-800-523-8452 (you'll get their parent company, so be sure to ask to speak with a Perler person) RE the above and with other requests about new colors, etc. It may not make a difference, but it would be such a relatively small effort on everyone's part for a potentially positive outcome.

Come on, lets go for it! Exclamation

Rose

I agree that this is a fabulous idea, and would also like to encourage everybody to e-mail or call. It's not guaranteed to make a difference, but it takes about 5 minutes to do and it's worth a shot.

That said, speaking as a customer service representative myself, don't be too hard on the people you speak with -- they have absolutely no authority to make decisions, have extremely limited access to the people who can, and often don't get the company memos until after the customers have already started calling them and asking about it. That's American corporate management for you.

This message is a shameless ploy to bump this thread back up to the top and to everyone's attention.

Has anyone else done their part to try to cajole the Perler Company into responding to our color palette needs? Contacting the Perler folks is kind of like voting; your one vote will likely not tip the balance in a presidential election, but when everyone votes it can make a difference.

While I'm grateful for the good things in life, I always want more. I'm extremely satisfied with the new Dark Grey, but another addition to the greyscale would certainly be appreciated. And who doesn't agree that another shade of purple is sorely needed?

Come on, fire off an email to customer service and follow-up with a toll-free phone call, and let everyone know about your experience.

Thanks!!!

Rose,
Do you know who you talked to at the Perler Customer Service? Just wondering. I have one lady in particular that I talk to and she is always very helpful. You may want to try and contact Ann Shade (you did not get her name from me!). She is the Sales Manager for Perler Beads. I am not sure of her email address, but if you call Perler, they may give it to you.

Hope this helps and if there is anything that you think I can do, then let me know.

GREAT NEW!! Very Happy

I just received an email from the Sales Manager at Perler and they are allowing me to purchase the following elusive colors individually:

Plum
Bright Green
Transparent Purple
Transparent Turquoise
Pastel Pink
Pink 225C

including the Neon Colors individually:
Neon Orange
Neon Green
Neon Pink

Because this is a special order, I have to buy them in very large quantities and would like to know if the Neon Colors are used that much. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Michelle, you are a Goddess!!!

Count me in for 3000 (to start with) of each of the following:

Plum (if this is the distinctly reddish purple that only comes in mixes and seems to fall in somewhere between Perler Purple and Perler Pastel Lavender)
Bright Green (I'm assuming that this is the infamous "Pain in My Ass to Find" green)
Pink225C (if this is the pink I've only found in mixes that is darker than both Perler Light Pink and Perler Bubblegum)
Pastel Pink (how is this different from Perler Light Pink, because I'm not sure if I've ever encountered Perler Pastel Pink?)

Speaking for myself, I don't use the transparent/translucent, neon, or glow-in-the-dark colors (along with the "metallics") much, if at all, in my pieces (unless I desperately need another hue for shading, and using both Hama and Perler colors enables me to avoid doing this 98% of the time.)

Thanks a million, Michelle!!!

As far as neon goes, I've only found a use for Neon Blue since, despite what I initially believed) it is the next shade up from Perler Dark Blue. I can't see any use for the other neon colors.

I will definitely buy many from the first list (especially the Plum, if this is the color we all hope it is).

I used to use Perler Neon Blue for the same reason, but I now use Hama Blue in its place, despite the fact that Hama Blue is more spendy and more difficult to acquire (for those of us living in the U.S.)

I'm not so interested in the neons, I'd only buy a bag of each for the sake of having a complete color palette. I don't have any specific projects in mind for them. (Personally, I find the Neon Blue too dark to shade with Dark Blue, I wish it were just a hair lighter.)

Announce when you get these colors in stock, I am absolutely frantic to get my hands on the plum and green!
