So here was my first try spriting. I really like the Airman but the Chocobo just sucks lol.

I do have a couple of ideas for when I have a little more practice under my belt but I'll keep those to myself until I decide to attempt them.

For now though, I'll stick to the small stuff.

All comments and criticism welcome!

You're off to a good start. Don't be afraid to try bigger stuff-it looks like you've got the hang of it just fine.

My shipment of beads came in today so I decided to make a couple of things.

First up we've got X from Megaman X; quite the dashing character I would say.

I messed up a little on the ironing, but it was a really fun sprite to do. I think I might try Storm Eagle next.

This next one took me forever. Hours of painstaking work went into this one and I'm really proud of it.

That's right, I made the protagonist from "Adventure."

Don't worry guys, maybe someday you'll have the skill to make your own Laughing

Last, Fygar from Dig Dug.

This sprite was all about experimentation.

I messed around with some of the colors from the original sprite to give Fygar more character and to make the fire more vibrant. This is also the first time I've ever used the "invisible" clear beads as supporters.

I've seen Fygars before but never one with the fire so I thought this would be a fairly original project. All in all, I think it turned out pretty well.

That's all for now!

Sorry about the double-post.

So I stayed up all night last night and ended up making 3 sprites that I knew I was going to make from the very beginning.

First off we've got a slime, simple as that.

Next, Cactuar. I didn't really pay attention to the colors on the sprite I downloaded for this one, just the shape. I think it turned out pretty well.

Finally, a Nightmare from Final Fantasy. This one really lived up to its name. It was the first sprite I've done that I consider to be "big" (took up 4 pegboards, though I think I might have been able to fit it on three). While flipping it over about 6 beads popped off and I messed up whilst ironing them back on. Another 3 or 4 also turned on their side. It's full of mistakes but I still like it. I absolutely refuse to show the other side, its got this really ugly big pink blob on the tail. Also, the ironing is generally inconsistent. Who knows, maybe I'm just being hard on myself... Anyway, here it is.

I'd really appreciate your comments and criticism!

Just out of curiosity, what colors did you use on Cactuar?

I see what looks like 4 shades of green, but it almost looks like there's a green lighter than Perler Pastel Green. I say good job on that one, the greens actually look consistant, where most multi-green-shaded sprites I've done don't blend as well...

Anyways, kudos on your newest ones, you're a natural!

Cactuar wins. Wonderful shading technique.

Not a huge RPG fan, let alone FFVII, but I do likes me some Cactuar.

You counted right Doc, there are four shades of green. I used Pastel Green, Dark Green, Kiwi Lime, and one shade that doesn't seem to be sold individually (I'm looking at the KS4K website right now). This is starting to lead me to believe it may be Sunshine's "PAIN IN MY ASS TO FIND" Green. Its darker than the Kiwi Lime but lighter than Dark Green.

I do know that I didn't use anything lighter than Pastel Green though, it might just look like it because of my camera's flash.

By the way, since when does Dark Green now come in bags of 6000?

Only one sprite in this update. Bucky from the Bucky O' Hare game.

I thought it was kind of strange that this sprite had a dark brown border instead of a black one. Good thing though, I'm starting to run low on black...

I have to agree... Cactuar is my favorite out of your sprites so far... the "mysterious" green shade makes the piece look marvelous... I must get me some... too bad they are, "PAIN IN MY ASS TO FIND" love that expression... ^^

So I saw welsh-wuff's Pokemon over-world sprites and copied the idea. Not too original, I know, but I thought they were really cool and wanted to make some as well.

I'm super excited about this one guys. This is my very first fully custom sprite.

I've been thinking about starting a page on etsy and I thought that for Valentine's Day there would be no better gift to give your loved one than a Weighted Companion Cube. So I made one.

EDIT 2: I got rid of the old photos, here's the completed project.

I finally got around to making Storm Eagle and I LOVE him. Storm Eagle has always been my favorite Maverick so I'm really glad it turned out as well as it did.

10 pegboards, 5 1/2 hours, 1 night, and just 1 can of soda. I'm not sure how many beads it took, I can't seem to get the trial of Photoshop to install properly Sad

Anyway, I really like it but if some of you guys could PEACH it that would be really helpful.

Sorry about the picture (and really, all of my pictures) being fuzzy; my camera sucks.

Looks like your stuff is coming along nicely!

I think your Storm Eagle is very well done. And while I don't personally understand the whole hobby's preoccupation with Portal's Weighted Companion Cube, it is cool to see something not ripped out of a game every once in a while.

Nice!!! SE is def the best Maverick. I made him before, in the same position too - I already sold him tho so I don't have any pics to show off...

However, if you watch this video of Power Glove at 16- Bit Genocide, at about 2:37 you can see the faintest sign of him while Power Glove plays the tune. That's me holding him up. Too bad no one got a close up Sad

Do you happen to know any coloring differences between yours and mine (you know, with the whole, everyone does the same stuff in a different manner thing)?

Nice video, that's pretty cool. At I think 2:35-2:36 someone's flash goes off and it makes your eagle easier to see.

Also, I know this makes me a total n00b, but what IS 16- Bit Genocide?

Looks pretty damn similar. Only difference I can see is I used Toothpaste for the in-between Grey and White.
And it looks like I added an extra bit down by his foot...unless you left that out...

16-Bit Genocide was a VG music-fest put together by the VG rock band Entertainment System.
The event featured art by 8 Bit Artist as well as Jude Buffum, who uses video game icons as political satire. Jude is actually my brother, who I went with and ended up bringing a ton of Bead-Sprites I did. Two other artists were supposed to attend but they couldn't make it so I filled in. I made a killing selling these things, which is why I'm so into them now.

32-Bit Genocide is coming up fast, and I will be there selling more stuff - a lot of the stuff you see on here.
If you can make it, it's definitely worth the trip. It's in Baltimore, MD. I'll post dates and the such as I know the info.

Continuing my Megaman X... thing we get Boomer Kuwanger.

(This next part I just copied off my deviantart)

Oh Boomer Kuwanger, you poor confused sap.

Part bird, part elf, part Hulk Hogan, and a lover of Disco. Is that what a Kuwanger is?

Well the good ol' Wikipedia says:
Kuwanger is a portmanteau word between kuwagata (which is Japanese for "stag beetle") and boomerang with an "er" suffix.

I think I like my version better.

At least I think I'm funny.

More to come.

Yeah I was going to use Toothpaste also but I think I might have got a bad batch of it. Every time I iron them they just look... crappy, like each individual one has something wrong with it.

As for the part at the bottom, I left it off. It's obviously supposed to be part of the claw but its totally the wrong color. I tried doing it in the same colors as the rest of the foot but it just looked like a useless blob. I think it looks a little better without Cool

Not sure why I haven't already posted this, its been done for about 3 days now.

Armored Armadillo. Next will either be Sting Chameleon or Chill Penguin.

Then we have just some little stuff I've been doing in the time while I've been waiting on certain colors.

I STILL haven't even started my 3D Companion Cube... shame on me.

yeeeaahh...shame on you, haha

im diggin all the mmx bosses...i did em all before 16-Bit Gen and the only one I sold was Spark Mandrill...that one looked amazing (so many color, yet not too gay, ya kno?) for $35. Later on, after East Coast Earthquake consigned the rest, I sold Chill Penguin...I may have sold more but I don't know for sure - I haven't talked to the guy since early September...

anyways, great job on the mmx bosses, - cant wait to see your Spark Mandrill
