Hello! After months on end of lurking, I decided I really should introduce myself!

I've been working with Perler/Hama beads since late last year, and I'm having a great time experimenting with them and just being geeky. Not everything in this post is video game related or created directly from sprites... if I need to fix that, please let me know and I'd be happy to!

I apologize for the poor quality in some of these, I haven't updated the gallery they're from with the better pictures yet (bad artisan!).

Ah, the beginning. Very first sprite I made... I was so proud of myself.

Then it took me a while to get the ironing right.

But, like a good newbie, I tried a bunch of the basics. Who doesn't love bad guys and bubble blowing dinosaurs?

Some day, I will make a very, very large one of Kirby. Or perhaps just a pile of different sprites... Kirby love.

One of the larger sprites I've made.

The other larger sprite.

I'm playing around with different applications of Perler beads, and of sprites. This sprite makes an awesome lightswitch cover.

I decided to try my hand at some coasters. Modified the sprites a bit to make it work. (Donatello is super shiny in this one, bad flash!)

Adam Fogler was kind enough to give me permission to try my hand at his work (and to sell it, since he doesn't want to)

Then I got really ambitious and started designing my own. Mostly, this means I stared at other sprites and played with Pixen until it looked right.

Then, I decided to start making coasters an art form. These are based on Firefly/Serenity, and all original designs. I'm a Browncoat, and there's never enough of our merch in the 'verse.

More original designs. I really do love bad guys, especially from Disney. It's hard to find good bad guy merchandise. So now I sell it.

More original designs. My friend wanted fridge magnets for his birthday.

April is Autism Awareness month, and I'm on the spectrum. So I made up some coasters for the cause.

I was having creator's block, so I made the Breakfast of Champions.

I -heart- my USB controller. (and it's to scale!)

*****

That's most of what I've got, although I'm always working on new stuff. I've set up shop on Etsy, and I'm hoping to start bringing bead sprite love to craft shows and whatnot this summer as well.

So many of you make such awesome creations, I hope to keep up!

Mmm....eggs. That breakfast platter has to be one of the most creative things I've seen in awhile. I don't care if they're not vg sprites, does anybody else, huh, WELL DO YOU!? I didn't think so...

Haha, I'm messin but yeah, I'm looking forward to more stuff from you.

I have to revive this thread and point out the Firefly-verse coasters.

SHINY.

Of course only another Browncoat would be able to pick out whose coaster is whose, though. I giggled at the hat and the strawberry.

I've been neglecting to post things - work, classes, and a business eat a lot of time - but it's time for another round of creations!

The Kirby Series:

I admit, I'm completely obsessed with Kirby's Dreamland. There's something about a pink puffball eating his foes that makes me smile. So, to honor that, I'm working on a whole series of things from that game:

From the Quick Draw mini-game. This actually became my Etsy Shop logo.

The Meta Army

Three from the mini-boss series: Tick Tock, Toss Tortoise, and Toy Lion

King Dedede, the first of many poses

These are two of two dozen power up panels I'm working on

The Paper Mario Series:

I got it in my head that it would be awesome to decorate a kitchen in sprites. I'm in the middle of recoloring Tayce T. as we speak, but a few of the food sprites are done...

The strawberry and the cake aren't food you can bring to Tayce T., but are from the cut scene where Princess Peach has to make a cake for Gourmet Guy.

Non-video game sprites:

I have a thing for blue roses.

This will be part of a memorial for the 9/11 attacks. I'm still designing the finished piece, but the towers themselves and the flag are proving a bit tricker than I expected.

Other bits:

Mighty Bomb Jack. One of the greatest obscure games ever.

A mini Gamecube, based on DoctorOctoroc's sprite pattern. (Which is made of win, by the way) I'm working on finding a way to make these into small ring boxes to give them a bit of function beyond being damn nifty.

I can't bring myself to make the dog yet, since I'm sure I'd be tempted to break him on principle.

My favorite new piece:

This is a full checker set, 1 Up Mushrooms against Poison Mushrooms. They even have their own box, and little crowns for the "kings."

Nice! Glad to see someone else try their hand at that mini-Gamecube. I made one in PLatnium too, lol. It's more of an inconsistant silvery color, but the principle is the same.

I love your Statue of Liberty!!! (and all your other stuff)

Where did you find Liberty, or is it an original design?

Thanks, Doc - I'm debating whether or not I'm willing to reformat the Wii sprite you did into a sort of "inbox" for my mail... I'd have to iron it to death, though, to keep it sturdy enough!

*****

Bantaro - They're pretty nifty, and fit nicely in an 8x10 frame. I started with the two panels I need reminders about anyway - to reach for goals and to get more sleep! ;)

*****

rgcainmd -

Thanks! Liberty was actually on the Perler website - so was the Breakfast of Champions. I find it kind of refreshing to grab some of their patterns now and then and take a break from gaming sprites and coasters.

*****

HighlyFlammableMan -

It was truly a labor of love. That many tiny pieces wasn't the hard part, sadly, so much as getting the board to stay flat long enough to hold together. The piece got a lot of use at my last craft show, and I'm really pretty proud of it.

Woow great work on the checkers, i had something in my head to do a chess the other day but i would love to make stand able pieces.

@DoctorOctoroc: i'm also planning on doing a mini-gamecube with your sprite, only need to get some time to get more blue colors (maybe i just do an other color) but all my pegboards are in use now so thats a shame also i still cant convince my mom to get a new iron so i can use the old one.
