OK, let's get the ball rolling then.

(click for larger view)

Mantis Ant battle scene under Potos, from Secret of Mana. - Midi beads

I'll be using these three bead elements to put together the scene with background and frame, but I'm still working out the details of the background itself. Meanwhile, here are the bead elements so far.

Notes on Mantis Ant: Antenna are reinforced by clear support beads, and the grey areas have been transposed to brown-tan as I didn't have enough shades of grey to effectively execute the different details. To give you an idea size-wise, he's a finger or two wider than a standard A4. Ish. ;)

Notes on Randi: Sword came out darker than anticipated through use of "bronze" Perler beads, intended to get a bit more of a rust colour, but oh well. Also shoes and wristband are darker than original sprite also.

Notes on Elliot: He's a coward.

That aside, I'm going to be working on the 6th part of another project I have running, and once completed will post that project on here.

Cheers!

Thank you. Mantis Ant was 6 boards, most of which isn't actually filled because of his shape. It also presents a problem with structure, so manipulation of the finished product is precarious (upper leg and arms are quite fragile).

I heavily ironed the side that ended up as the back and left to set for a long time to try and make at least one side as strong as possible, but even then during turn over I lost 3 beads, which weren't hard to re-attach.

Hmm, strange that. I've re-copied the htaccess into that folder in case the one in the root tree is not being picked up by subdirs (though it should, AFAICT), hopefully will solve any problems from here on with regards to images loading. Smile

Tumble from Children of Mana (click for larger view). Figured since I'd used that sprite for the purposes of the GIMP demo I'd bead her too.

Few more Hama colours arrived today so hopefully I can fill in the palette gaps I was having trouble with as part of another project. The black outline has been sitting on the table far too long now.

Sounds like you've got quite a few projects going at once. I personally cant do that. If I cant finish it in a few hours I start to lose interest. All your sprites look really awesome, cant wait to see more.

OK, I just finished the final sprite in the project I've been working on for a while now. I'm waiting for it to harden, after which I'll make sure I haven't screwed up anywhere, then take photo and get them all posted. This should happen tomorrow, assuming I don't fall prey to getting too tied up with everything else I have going on atm (trying to get my webpage up and running after however many months of procrastination).

/me needs his sleeps
Then again, it's 3am and I've been woken up during the night, so why not do it now... but my brain is a bit too fuzzy, and I need to try and sleep again shortly, else I'll not be a happy bunny tomorrow.

OK, finally. So I set out on a project just after finishing my first two beadpsrites using minibeads, and I've finally finished them (because I keep getting distracted, or I had to wait around for more colours to come through from Hama to complement the Perler ones).

These are all 6 characters from Seiken Densetsu 3, as seen both on the character select screen and the status screens during game play, until you class change them that is. For the benefit of those unfamiliar with them, here's a screenshot showing all the sprites beaded.

I didn't go for a straight colour match in some cases. The game sprites are limited to the number of colours they use, so the highlights of all colours are the same. Where possible, I have gone for using a lighter version of the colour in question, or in Charlotte's case for example I changed a lots of her colours round completely. Some of this was also done to bring them closer to the game's artwork palette.

Anyway, enough of my mindless babbling. Here they are. Click to enlarge. From left to right: Duran, Angela, Kevin, Charlotte, Hawkeye, Riesz.

I also plan to put backgrounds to these, but that'll take some time. I'll post the finished finished product when that happens.

Wow Kassidy, those look incredible. You are such a good addition to this group. I really enjoy the color variations and great shading. Very well done on this project and I can't wait to see it if you add the background.

I will ask a silly question though.... Why haven't you made a Crabbit Seinkens man Smile That is like a symbol to me of the Mana games lol.

Thank you all. Smile Backgrounds will follow, but I think I'll make a start on them next week. Need to work out materials and such.

Very good point on the lack of Rabite. But I did do a Mushboom. ;)

I have a few more Mana based ones in the planning, but I'm thinking of doing a few odds and ends here and there first. I'll make a rabite soon enough though. ;)

I couldn't sleep last night, so threw this together. More than anything out of curiosity to see if anyone recognises where he's from.

OK, I haven't been very active due to time constraints, but I couldn't resist pushing this little dude to the front of my projects queue.

Click for larger version. Apologies for the photo quality, it was a quick and dirty.
