Heard about this hobby a little less than a week ago and was intrigued.

So I went out, bought a Mixed Bucket o' Beads, and figured I'd begin with something easy.

Then I figured, you can't do video game sprites without at least paying homage to the king.

And then... I was running dangerously low on Black. I ordered more, but they'd take a while to arrive, so I noticed some Mario 2 sprites didn't use a whole lot of Black.

...and then I ran ENTIRELY out of black.

But then, providence! My order arrived yesterday, and it was time to try something a little bigger.

I am now terrified to iron him. Took me about an hour to psyche myself up to trying. He's currently cooling between two sheets of foamcore and under several heavy books. I knocked off a bunch of his wing while ironing him, so I had to hastily add more beads and iron them in. Ironing big sprites is really tough! Too much heat here, hardly any heat there... Hopefully, he doesn't look too bad. I'll post a final when he's ready. I noticed after ironing that i missed two beads in his left leg, unfortunately, but it's too late to fix that now. It's a learning experience Smile

C'est Finis!

A lot of the yellows got overly crushed, and some of the blacks as well, and the dark gray (as has been noticed on these boards many times) just looks like black, unfortunately, but for a first try doing a multi-board sprite, I think it came out alright.

Much love, man. I appreciate anyone who pays homage to the great Storm Eagle, and your piece is pretty damn great. Nice work!

I probably should branch out some more, but these Megaman X sprites are just too fun!

Megaman sprites in general are totally addictive. Awesome launch Octopus. One of these days I wanna see a Spark Mandrill.

I'll probably end up doing them all, but you got it, Spark Mandrill's up next.

Spark Mandrill was my favorite when I did the X bosses...I'd save Chill Penguin and Sting Chameleon for last, cause they'll go faster, haha. Great job with Storm Eagle and Launch Octopus!

Okay, i finished beading him this afternoon, but then I had a WoW raid to prepare for, and then of course, the actual raid, so I probably won't get a chance to iron him until tomorrow, but here he is, waiting on some heat.

He didn't look that complicated when i started, but I don't think I've done a sprite yet that used this many colors!

I originally beaded him with glow-in-the-dark beads for the lightbulbs around his shoulders and wrists, so he could glow in the dark like when he turns the lights out on you during the actual Spark Mandrill fight, but I ended up not being happy with the color choices available in the glow-in-the-dark series, so I switched the bulbs back to normal beads.

Very nice. this looks way better than mine did, since I had no Dark Grey when I did it (booo!). Very nice - I love the pose you chose as well.

Well, I kinda have mixed feelings for the Dark Gray. In big patches (like his feet and upper arms) it looks alright, but in small bits (like the piping on his hump) you can't distinguish it from black. So if Perler starts listening to your correspondence, Doc, try to press for some sort of Medium Gray Smile Oh, and a Dark Red and Even-Yet-Still-More-Darker Purple, because I have so far had no luck in locating Hama beads here in the US >.<

Fantastic Spark Mandrill! I would've kept the glow in the dark pieces, but I still love that piece.

The dark grey is tricky, cause when you're laying them down on the pagboard, they do look awfully close to black, but usually when you iron it, they appear a bit lighter, so I'd say it looks fine, even if it doesn't look fine before you iron it.

Okay, So Spark Mandrill is now ironed. And Now, here's the newest member of the family - Flame Mammoth.

I remember when I was playing this game years ago, and the whole time I was doing this sprite, I was wondering "Why does Flame Mammoth have a giant E on his chest?" I only just now realized posting this that it's supposed to be a Sigma, since he's under the employ of Sigma. Years it's been since I first asked myself this, and I only just now realized something that obvious Smile

I believe sigma requires two more pixels, one on each tip.

No one can blame you, sir. It's the fault of those who don't know how to properly construct their Greek letters.

Very nice sprites by the way. Very Happy <3

Nice try, Doc. If you decided to try again I'd suggest math and science nerd instead.

Sorry the first thing that come to your mind when you think sigma is sorority sluts. Some of us think "sum," but it's obvious you think something else...

ummm... BURN!

Hey, you're putting it out there, you can't blame me for sneakin' a peek.

Oh, and I have two suggestions for you. "Sorry the first thing that come to your mind when you think sigma is sorority sluts."

1) ...the first things that come...
or
2) ...the first thing that comes...

My mother was an English teacher, I know my sh!t.

You can't recant that "burn" now.
